ALYA by Bali Sky Suites
Overlooking the Skaha Lake in Penticton, Alya is a boutique hotel concept designed to offer private, luxury accommodation to guests visiting the Okanagan. Tailored for a clientele looking to enjoy the finer things in life, Alya is a small collection of secluded suites perched on the cliffs above Skaha Lake. This caliber of accommodation is almost non-existent in the Okanagan and the partners behind Alya felt the need firsthand, so decided to create what the market was lacking, backed by years of high-end real estate industry experience.
Opportunity or Challenge
The minds behind the boutique hotel knew they needed an upscale brand identity that represented Alya’s positioning. So, Alya engaged our branding agency to set the tone and build the brand from the ground up. From Discovery we knew the Alya brand was defined by:
—The Arabic translation of the word: “sky” and “heaven”
—Its physical location on a cliff (but no explicit connection to the Okanagan)
—The architectural concept drawings and amenities that were ultra-modern and sleek
—A target audience of international and city-dwelling high-income individuals
The Arabic translation of Alya had a strong influence on the brand design process from the beginning. Inspired by the elevation of the building, the Alya logo mimics the positioning of the building creating an incredibly unique, dramatic, and sophisticated logo. For the rest of the identity system, we were inspired by the materials and colours of the architectural and interior design concept drawings, which played into the final colour palette and textures. We developed a visual identity that is modern, beautiful and reflects the Alya experience.
