Braidwood Tavern
Background:
Whistler’s Sidecut Modern Steakhouse and Bar, located in the Four Seasons Whistler, underwent extensive renovations and redesign. As a result – the main dining area continued to be Sidecut, but the bar and lounge area became Braidwood Tavern: a cozy, funky, eclectic, non-traditional tavern that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Opportunity:
Carter Hales Design Lab was asked to develop a visual identity for Braidwood Tavern that is reflective and in harmony with the interior design created by Box Interior Design. The bar, with its braided wood, will be the focal architectural element of the interior space. When developing the visual identity for Braidwood Tavern it needed to be one that could stand alone and be seen as an independent establishment that just happened to be located in the Four Seasons Whistler.
Solution:
Picture this: You are at your Uncle Bruce’s cabin – he is a little quirky, intelligent, eclectic- he is well read, likes to drink and can talk about all things and topics endlessly. Braidwood Tavern is approachable, casual, unpretentious, comfortable and feels like you are sitting at your Uncle’s cabin, where you can be yourself. The visual identity we developed fully embodies this experience…apart from the small detail of turning Uncle Bruce into a smart little Marmot.
We developed a complete visual identity consisting of a logo, wordmark, colour palette and motifs, and applied this visual identity to a variety of printed mediums- signage, menus, postcards, coasters, and napkins. Oh, and did we mention a beer paddle that holds 15 glasses!
