Capilano University IDEA 2020
Capilano University’s IDEA Bachelor of Design and Visual Communication Program hosts an annual IDEA Grad Show, allowing students to showcase portfolios for prospective employers. We were asked to develop the creative concept for print and digital touchpoints for the 2020 virtual show.
Our design platform supported student work without overpowering it. To entice art directors and design firm principals to hire Capilano students, we needed to set the IDEA show apart from competing programs. The approach centred on the idea of employers having the first pick of fresh, talented students, likening them to fruit perfectly ripened by IDEA. Borrowing from fruit stickers you’d see in a grocery store, each student designed their own sticker paired with their photo. The University and Carter Hales launched the online show through the IDEA website, featuring graduate video reels and Zoom meetings to chat with students.
