Holy Cow! Foods

Background

Holy Cow! makes delicious and healthy 100% plant-based and 50/50 plant-and-meat-blended foods that satisfy the demanding appetites of those who are either fully committed to a plant-derived lifestyle or who are nudging in that direction.

Challenge and Opportunity

The global alternative meat industry has been around for a while. It’s massive, it’s crowded, and, from both a product and visual identity standpoint, it’s a sea of sameness. Positioning Holy Cow! as more than just another entrant and helping them stand out in supermarket aisles required something fresh.

Solution

We created a visual identity for Holy Cow! that is fun, bright, and playful. Consumer packaging transcends the safe middle-ground aesthetic of large industrial manufacturing by deploying bursts of colour and a design smile in the form of a cow pattern backdrop that is quirky, comforting, and casual. Typography is bold and approachable.

The result? After only months in the market, Holy Cow! is racking up popular appeal while commanding increasingly prominent shelf space across local and Canada-wide food retailers.
