Mitchell Press is a premium quality commercial printer specializing in lithography and digital/web printing. Wanting to showcase the capabilities of their digital press and dispel misconceptions about the quality of web printing, they called on us.

We created a sub-brand (Design Teams), a quarterly magazine, a housing mechanism for the magazine, and a suite of illustrated and beautifully printed support pieces. Printing rollers and the fluidity of paper weaving through a press inspired the logo. Depending on the application, the weaving paper can be customized with bright colour, embossing, or metallic ink, and custom typography and an illustrated collection of characters educate designers about digital printing. Each piece was designed like a classic comic (think Gasoline Alley or Peanuts), and the quirky, geometric illustrations are suitable for any application. Limited colours in the housing mechanism and support materials allow Mitchell Press to customize the palette to match an outgoing issue of Design Teams Magazine.
